CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (WCBS 880) — Police on Long Island are hunting for two hit-and-run drivers that struck and killed a man on New Year’s Day.

Suffolk County police said Taekwon Campbell, 22, was killed on Jan. 1 when two vehicles hit him on Lowell Avenue at around 1:30 a.m.

Both vehicles stopped after striking the man, according to police, and people got out of both cars to look at the 22-year-old before returning to their vehicles and fleeing the scene.

On Wednesday, police released surveillance footage and photos from the scene in hopes of identifying the people responsible.

Authorities are also offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest.
