Police: Long Island Mom Lied About Attempted Kidnapping

January 18, 2019 - 1:49 pm

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (WCBS 880) -- Police say a Long Island woman fabricated a story about the attempted kidnapping of her 1-year-old to cover up the fact the boy was unrestrained in his stroller and fell out.

Jeymi Guerra Cordova, 23, was charged with making a punishable false written statement and was set to face a judge Saturday.

The charge comes a day after police said they were searching for the man who tried to grab her baby as she pushed him in a stroller in West Hempstead on Tuesday.

Police say Cordova made that up and that the real story is that she was pushing her 1-year-old son in his stroller on Fulton Avenue when the child fell out of the stroller because he hadn't been buckled in.

The boy suffered a large bump to his head and scrapes on his face.
