NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — Police seized weapons and body armor at the home of a man they say was plotting a mass murder.

Internet postings on Facebook about mass murder by the man initially rasied concerns.

The FBI credits a vigilant citizen for disrupting what could have been a mass killing spree plot in the works.

Norwalk Police Lieutenant Terry Blake said, “The tip indicated that he was attempting to purchase large capacity rifle magazines out-of-state and in addition is believed to be purchasing parts to build a rifle.”

With a risk warrant in hand, police arrested 22-year-old Brandon Wagshol and seized his father’s firearms.

They also found ammunition, tactical gear, and body armor.

Police say Wagshol posted on Facebook his interest in mass killings.

He also claimed he was a marine veteran and now worked as a janitor at a Homeland Security facility.

Police say those claims are untrue.
