Police Suspect Illegal Breeder Is Snatching Yorkies In Bridgeport

June 11, 2018 - 12:06 pm

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WCBS 880) -- Police suspect a dognapper is stealing Yorkies in Bridgeport.

In the neighborhood near the Beardsley Zoo, utility poles are plastered with posters for nearly a dozen dogs that have gone missing over the past few weeks.

"This is breaking up families, it's destroying the children in the house," Bridgeport Councilwoman Jeanette Herron said.

Bridgeport Police said most of the missing dogs are Yorkies and females, which would point to an illegal breeder.

"They're all female yorkies so we're all very concerned that there's some kind of ring here taking these dogs either for bait dogs or for breeding," Herron said.

Daniela said her 2-year-old Yorkie named Daisy disappeared from her front yard last week.

"I just want my baby back. I'm not going to press chrges against you, I just need her back so I can live again, think straight again," she said, pleading for Daisy's safe return. "No questions asked at all. I just want my dog back."
