NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – The NYPD has arrested a man who they say threw another man onto the tracks of a Brooklyn subway station and then hit him in the face with a metal lock.

The suspect and the 29-year-old victim got into an argument at the 95th Street R station in Bay Ridge Wednesday night. Police say things soon turned violent, with the suspect throwing the victim onto the southbound subway tracks.

Video released Sunday by the NYPD shows the victim standing on the tracks and yelling at the suspect, who is seen pacing on the platform.

Police say the victim was eventually rescued by Good Samaritans but that the suspect then hit him in the face with a metal lock attached to a string.

The victim was taken to NYU Langone Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

Jairus Diaz, 24, of the Bronx, has been arrested and charged with assault.
