Popular Entenmann's Mini Cookies Recalled Over Plastic Fears

August 02, 2019 - 3:45 pm

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – Entenmann's Little Bites Soft Baked Cookies are being voluntarily recalled over concerns the popular snacks may contain pieces of plastic, which could pose a choking risk.

The recall has been issued in 37 states, including New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, according to the product’s manufacturer, Bimbo Bakeries USA. The cookies are sold at retailers across the country, including Target and Walmart.

The recall affects the five-pack mini chocolate chip cookies, which could have pieces of blue plastic in their packaging pouch. Bimbo Bakeries says the plastic isn’t baked into the cookies but could be loose in the pouches and pose a choking hazard.

Bimbo Bakeries issued the recall after complaints from consumers, who said they found pieces of plastic with the product.

No injuries have been reported, according to Bimbo Bakeries.

The recalled products have a “best buy” date of Aug. 31, 2019 or Sept. 7, 2019. They also can be identified by the lot code 1350 and the UPC code 7203002378.

Consumers can return the cookies at the store where they bought them for a full refund or call (800) 984-0989 with questions.

Head to this FDA page for more on the recall.
