NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — Dozens of protesters rallied outside a Homeland Security building in Newark to display their opposition to President Trump’s national emergency declaration.

The protesters were frustrated both with the president and lawmakers that don’t do more to stop him and held signs calling for the president’s ouster.

One protester said: “It’s not a true emergency; there’s a sign over here that says climate change emergency. That’s a true emergency.”

Another protester said: “There are millions of dollars that should be spent on veterans and veteran health in this country and instead we’re using it to build a concrete tribute to a president who likes things with his name on it.”

The protest was coordinated by the ACLU, Make the Road New Jersey, and AEIU.
