If you’ve missed browsing the aisles for home essentials at T.J. Maxx, Marshalls and HomeGoods, we have some good news for you!

TJX Companies, which owns the three retail brands, is expecting to open most of its stores by the end of June.

As of May 21, more than 1,600 stores out of 4,545 stores nationwide have reopened either fully or partially earlier, according to Newsweek.

The rest will gradually begin opening and will implement a number of health and safety guidelines to protect employees and customers, according to a report from TJX.

Stores have installed protective shields at cash registers, added floor markers to encourage social distancing, and implemented new procedures for handling returns. Most fitting rooms are temporarily closed in the U.S with occupancy reduced by 50% in Canada.

There are also new cleaning procedures that disinfect high-touch surfaces and areas including PIN pads and shopping carts.

Customers and employees are required to wear face coverings or masks inside the store. Store associates will also have access to health screeners and temperature checks upon returning to work.

Additionally, there will be a new store occupancy to ensure proper social distancing is maintained.

TJX CEO, Ernie Herrman, admitted he has been encouraged by strong sales in initial reopenings. The company report notes that initial sales have exceeded last year’s.

Both T.J. Maxx and Marshalls reopened for limited online shopping in early May after closing down in-person and online stores in March due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“As various states and countries reopen businesses and we reopen our own stores and e-commerce websites, health and safety will remain a very important consideration,” Herrman said in a statement.

TJX also announced temporary hours for many stores: Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
