Report: Jeffrey Epstein Was Sleeping On Floor, Not Bathing In Final Days

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – A report out this weekend is giving us a closer look at Jeffrey Epstein’s final days in jail.

A legal adviser for Epstein told the New York Times that the convicted sex offender, who was used to a luxurious life spent at his Manhattan mansion and private Caribbean island, was very upbeat about a week before he committed suicide.

But over that week, his mood shifted and his mental state seemed to be cracking. He stopped showering and began to sleep on the floor of his cell instead of on his bed.

The Times reports that Epstein spent a lot of time with his lawyers—frequent visits that often took up much of the day and allowed him an escape from his jail life.

The visits allowed him to leave his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center to sit in a room with only his lawyers. According to the report, he’d meet with them for hours at a time, sometimes sitting in silence.

“It was shift work, all designed by someone who had infinite resources to try and get as much comfort as possible,” a lawyer told the Times.

The report also reveals that Epstein deposited money in fellow inmates’ commissary accounts to avoid being preyed upon.

Epstein reportedly spent his last day alive with his lawyers. That night two prison guards, who were supposed to check on him every thirty minutes, fell asleep, jail officials told the Times. Three hours later, he was found lifeless in his cell.

The city medical examiner recently announced Epstein’s cause of death was suicide by hanging.
