NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- A robbery suspect died after he was electrocuted while trying to make his getaway in Brooklyn Saturday night.

Police said the man assaulted and robbed a person in Park Slope just before 8 p.m. The thief then ran off into the Union Street Station as police gave chase.

Somehow he then ended up falling onto the tracks in the station and was electrocuted by the third rail.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

It’s unclear if he tried to jump across platforms or slipped onto the tracks.

The investigation is ongoing.
