NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- A man is under arrest after police said he crashed his car into a store on Long Island and then robbed it.

Tire tracks were visible inside a Sunoco gas station Food Mart on Brentwood Road in Bay Shore where police say Robert Persad intentionally drove his Hyundai through the front door around 3 a.m. Wednesday.

Persad grabbed whatever he could, threw it all in his car and then backed up the car and drove off, police said.

The 42-year-old, who lives just one mile away, was arrested later the night in Deer Park.
