NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- It's a sure sign that the holidays are just around the corner—ice skaters are hitting the rink once again at Rockefeller Center.

It may be reaching the 60s in New York City on this mild weekend, but that didn’t stop hundreds from taking to the ice without hats, gloves and scarves.

“I think it’s kind of cool to have everyone out there to take a look and see the festivities going on,” said Jasper, who was visiting from Florida.

He says he won’t be skating, but he knows we’re closer to the holidays then it might seem.

“It’s right there. It’s about two months away. So yeah, I think it’s just the right time for it,” he said.

Rosie, from Canada, wasn’t quite ready to get into the holiday spirit.

“I mean it’s not that I’m super into Halloween, but it feels like there’s more to happen before we get into the Christmas season,” she said.

For Nyla from England “it’s perfect.”

“The start of the festive season, isn’t it?” she said. “Should be all year round—good exercise.”

Nyla even asked why the Christmas tree isn’t up yet.

“It’s just beautiful and everybody is happy,” she said.

The tree lighting is set for Dec. 4. The skating season runs through April.

Tickets start at $25 but reach $33 per session for adults during the peak season.
