NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- Rockland County is going to court over illegal dumping along the Ramapo River.

The county claims a local tree service and excavation company has been using the area as a dumping ground for two years.

NAC Maintenance and its operators along with property owenrs have been named in court papers.

County Attorney Thomas Humbach said he's seeking to get a judge to issue contempt sanction of up to $2,500 a day against the defendants. He said NAC has ignored a temporary restraining order issued a month ago.

NAC denies the allegations.
