JACKSON, N.J. (WCBS 880) — New Jersey thrill seekers rejoice – a new coaster is going to Six Flags Great Adventure and it’s expected to shatter three world records!

The park says the new Jersey Devil Coaster will be the “tallest, fastest and longest single rail coaster.”

It will reach 13 stories high with speeds up to 58 mph along 3,000-feet of track.

The monorail-style trains can fit 12 passengers per trip with one person per row.

The park says it was inspired by the Jersey Devil urban legend and features an 87-degree, raven-style drop to mimic the flying cryptic.

“Legend says the Jersey Devil has haunted the Pine Barrens for centuries, soaring stealthily through the woods in the dark of night before attacking its prey,” Six Flags says. “Modern-day folklore even places this beast near the theme park’s Great Lake, with its menacing, curled horns manifesting under a full moon.”

The new roller coaster will be located near the Safari off-road adventure, close to the Bizarro coaster.

It will open in the summer of 2020.
