Son Of Assistant To Borough President Killed During Brooklyn Shooting

September 03, 2018 - 12:20 pm

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- The son of an assistant to Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams died Sunday after being shot in broad daylight, police said.

Investigators said two men were shot at around 4 p.m. at the corner of Spencer Place and Hancock Street in Bed-Stuy.

It's unclear why the two were targeted, but witnesses said there was an argument beforehand.

One of the men later died and was identified as Jack Lester. Adam’s office confirmed that he was the son of an employee close to the borough president.

“A member of our Brooklyn Borough Hall family has lost one of their own. We share in mourning the life that #gunviolence tragically claimed yesterday afternoon in Bed-Stuy,” Adams tweeted Monday morning. “I am as resolute as ever to combat this epidemic that has deeply hurt so many of us.”

The condition of the other victim wasn't immediately released.

No one has been arrested and the investigation is ongoing.
