GREENVILLE, S.C. (WCBS 880) — South Carolina police say a woman stole a car after throwing a nonpoisonous snake at the driver.

Greenville Police say 29-year-old Hilmary Moreno-Berrios demanded the female driver’s keys and then threw a live, black snake at her.

The driver fled from the snake and police say Moreno-Berrios then got into the SUV, with the snake still inside and then drove through barricades that were set up for a pole vaulting exhibition.

The 29-year-old was injured in the crash, which happened on Friday, and released from the hospital on Monday.

Moreno-Berrios is charged with carjacking, malicious damage to property and five traffic violations. She remains jailed on $25,000 bond.

The snake was not injured and was released in a nearby wooded area.
