Suffolk County Announces $7M Pothole Repair Plan

July 15, 2019 - 2:17 pm

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- Suffolk County has announced a new and aggressive $7 million pothole repair program.

Residents can easily and quickly report a pothole by calling 311.

If it's a county-owned roadway, dangerous potholes will be repaired within 48 hours and smaller potholes known as skimmers will be filled within five business days.

"When you think about residents who are driving on these roadways, they're not thinking about whether they're driving on a state road, or a county road, or a town road or a village road," County Executive Steve Bellone said. "When they hit a pothole, they just want to know that the pothole is going to get filled."

If the pothole is on a local or state road, the operator will tell the resident who to contact.
