CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (WCBS 880) — An illegal gun trafficking operation was uncovered on Long Island, tied to a street gang, according to authorities.

Suffolk County District Attorney Tim Sini announced Tuesday that police arrested 14 people allegedly associated with the Bloods street gang.

The arrests come as part of a yearlong investigation, during which authorities uncovered 73 illegal firearms – including 13 rifles.

Sini said ten of the 14 people arrested are facing felony charges.

Most of the guns were funneled in through Virginia, according to the district attorney.

Police say the individuals were watched physically and online using court-approved wiretapping.
