NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- October is almost here and that means it's time to start thinking about Halloween.

For those who want to scare up the real thing, there's a store in Greenwich Village where you can really bone up for the holiday.

In this week's Sweet Spot, Mike Sugerman checks out The Evolution Store which bills itself as the city's "premiere retail destination for science and natural history collectibles, artifacts, gifts, and home furnishings."

Celebrating its 25th year, The Evolution Store sells everything from sharks in a jar to scorpion lollipops to real human bones.

"We're licensed by the New York City Department of Health as a non-transplant anatomic bank so we are licensed to sell human bones," says Julianna Stevens who co-owns the store with her father.

But in order to buy real human skulls and body parts you have to be a doctor or medical student.

Though they have realistic fakes.

"I was looking for a skull that was like a container that you could screw off the top and put something inside like a surprise," one customer said.

Alex Fox who lives Washington, D.C. was in the market for some butterflies.

"I have plates in my dining room that have butterflies on them and so in order to bring those out of the plates I thought I'd get a couple more butterflies," said Fox. "You can't find anything like this anywhere else. Every time we come to New York City we come here, it's one of our destinations."

Stevens herself says she's partial to taxidermy.

"We have a really nice taxidermy collection, everything from buffalo to mice and everything in between," she says. "We just love what the natural world has to offer and there's really no improving on it."
