MARLBORO, N.J. (AP) A crash involving two tanker trucks has shut down a stretch of a major highway in central New Jersey and left one driver injured.

The crash in Marlboro occurred shortly before 10 a.m. at the intersection of Routes 9 and 520.

Officials say roughly 3,000 gallons of fuel have leaked onto the roadways. The crash and subsequent cleanup spurred road closures and major traffic delays in the area that were expected to continue through the evening commute.

Some local businesses and shopping malls near the crash scene were evacuated as a precaution.

Authorities say one driver suffered minor undisclosed injuries and was being treated at a hospital. But further details were not disclosed.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
