LAKEVIEW, Conn. (WCBS 880) -- A prestigious boarding school in Connecticut has admitted to numerous cases of teacher and staff members sexually abusing students over the years.

In a report released Friday, the Hotchkiss School in Lakeview admitted to being aware of multiple instances of sexual misconduct between members of the administration and students.

An investigation conducted by the international law firm Locke Lord, found sexual abuse by seven former faculty members that occurred between 1969 and 1992, which “primarily involved unwanted sexual contact and intercourse.”

The firm found one teacher went on to marry two of his former students and a school physician had performed multiple unnecessary gynecological exams.

Hotchkiss is the latest in a strip of prestigious school to acknowledge that faculty members who were trusted to care for children were abusing them instead.

The educational institution is now apologizing to the victims, including those who have said they have been suffering from depression since the incidents occurred.

It’s unclear if any legal action will be taken as the statute of limitations has run out on the men named in the report.

Hotchkiss joins Emma Willard and Choate Hall as other prestigious schools who have admitted to such problems.
