MINEOLA, N.Y. (WCBS 880) – Everyone at a Nassau County building in Mineola was evacuated over a threatening letter on Monday.

Authorities say the handwritten letter was found in the mailroom of the county offices at 240 Old Country Rd.

Nassau County Executive Laura Curran says she's thankful police responded quickly to the incident.

"There was something suspicious delivered to one of our county buildings where many agencies work out of. Obviously we take this sort of thing very seriously," she said. "The police responded immediately and effectively."

The building houses many offices, including the County Assessor and County Clerk. Authorities say the letter was addressed to the Board of Elections.

No one was injured, and police say the evacuation was made as a precaution.

No powder or other substance was found inside the envelope.

No arrests have been reported as police continue to investigate.
