June 19, 2019 - 3:26 pm

NEWARK (WCBS 880) — A new measles alert was issued in New Jersey Wednesday morning.

The New Jersey Department of Health says a traveler who landed in Newark from Tokyo last month may have exposed others to the disease in terminals A and B.

The flyer boarded a flight to Qubec after landing in New Jersey.

The individual was infectious while visiting the two terminals between 5 p.m. on May 29 and 3:30 p.m. on May 30, according to the health alert.

The department has already informed all New Jersey residents who may have been exposed to measles.

Symptoms include rash, high fever, cough, runny nose and red, watery eyes.

The Health Department says obtaining the MMR vaccine is the best way to protect yourself and others from contracting measles.
