NEW YORK (WCBS 880/AP) -- The denizens of Wall Street were joined by a wayward falcon apparently looking to make his presence known in the Financial District.
The falcon swooped into lower Manhattan on Wednesday.

One caller to 911 said there's "a chicken hawk" on the sidewalk while others worried the bird had been injured and needed help, The New York Post reported.

The NYPD sent in the Emergency Services Unit but the hawk took off as police surrounded it.

Witnesses say the bird never made a sound.

Coffee cart owner Dalia Abdullah says he gave the bird four strips of bacon because it looked hungry.

A specialist with the Cornell University Lab of Ornithology identified the bird's species as a young peregrine falcon.
