COLTS NECK, N.J. (WCBS 880) – There’s a twist in the investigation around the Caneiro family’s slaying in Monmouth County.

It was in the will, which reportedly shows Paul Caneiro was set to control much of the Caneiro family fortune if his brother and his brother’s wife both died.

The will was filed in probate court this past week, according to the Asbury Park Press, as it’s being contested by Jennifer Caneiro’s mother following the slayings.

Paul Caneiro has been removed as the will’s executor, according to a probate court notice, with Paul and Keith Caneiro’s father Caesar being named instead.

Paul would have had the power to control two trust funds and collect income on the estate.

His lawyer, Robert Honaker, declined to say whether his client knew about the stipulations as reported by the press.

Paul Caneiro’s accused of shooting his brother Keith and stabbing Keith’s wife and two young children before setting their house on fire in Colts Neck two days before Thanksgiving.

The family was laid to rest last weekend.

Paul Caneiro has been charged with murder in connection with the slayings.
