NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — They say you can't fight City Hall, but you can have someone else fight your parking ticket.

WinIt is an app that allows you to submit a picture of your ticket and evidence to support your case. They then go to court on your behalf to try to get the ticket dismissed.

"With WinIt it really is a win-win in the sense of you submit the ticket, if we lose we charge you nothing. You pay for the ticket like you normally would. We win, we charge you half of what we save you," co-founder Christian Fama tells Joe Connolly in this week's Small Business Spotlight, sponsored by BNB Bank — "Community Banking from Montauk to Manhattan. "Now, moving into traffic tickets as well as the parking tickets it gives us the opportunity to actually offer kind of a protection for the user of a worry-free, moneyback guarantee. If we don't get a reduction on the ticket you have the option to do a guarantee where we refund you."

Fama says they've had superb word-of-mouth marketing.

"The best marketing for us is having a good product because everybody sees a million Facebook ads and what do you do? You flip through them, you scroll through them and you barely look at them. But when your friend tells you, 'You gotta download this. It's great, it really works. It saved me money. It didn't save me a couple of bucks, it saved me a couple of hundred bucks. It's a no-brainer," Fama said.

Demand for their services is high. As Connolly notes, every car on the road is a potential WinIt customer.

"In New York City alone they issue about 10 million parking tickets to year," Fama said. "So needless to say if you have a car you have the demand for ticket service because inevitably throughout the course of the year you're going to get a couple of tickets."

Co-founder Ouriel Lemmel says nationally, over 60 million tickets are issued in the states every year, which amounts to two tickets per second.

WCBS 880's own Mike Sugerman even tried out WinIt and won.
