Winning $148 Million Powerball Ticket Sold At Long Island Gas Station

MERRICK, N.Y. (WCBS 880) -- One Long Island town is buzzing with excitement after someone purchased a winning Powerball ticket at a local gas station.

The single winning ticket in Saturday night's $148 million drawing was sold at the Merrick Gas & repair Station in Merrick.

The winning numbers were 18, 21, 24, 30 and 60 and a Powerball of 20.

The identity of the lucky winner for now remains a mystery.

One man joked as he got out of his car at the gas station saying, "I'm the winner." He is not, but just like other customers, wishes that he was.

One mother regrets not buying a ticket.

"I heard it on the radio what it was up to and I said, 'Oh, I should go stop and get a lotto ticket.' But I have two little ones so I didn't get a chance to come in and I heard it and I said, 'Oh crap, I should've done it,'" she said.

While the gas station has seen winners in the past, it was never for a prize of this magnitude.

"I never have something like that in my store," said manager Mohammad Ishtiaq, who hopes the winner of the $148 million prize is one of his regulars. "If he's a regular I'm more happy."

The last large winning ticket sold at the gas station about a year and a half ago for $70,000.
