NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- A 67-year-old woman was on life support Wednesday, after being shot in the face while standing at a bus stop on Staten Island the day before.

The woman, identified by her niece as Frances Williams, was in critical, but stable, condition Wednesday.

Just before she was hit by the bullet, a gang fight transpired outside the nearby Staten Island Supreme Court building in St. George. Police said one man opened fire on a carjacked minivan, and he was then run over by the van and killed.

Several people who were in the van were arrested.

Police on Wednesday evening were trying to determine whether there is a connection between the gang fight and the shooting that wounded the woman.
