NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – Police are investigating a gruesome murder scene in Brooklyn – they say a young woman was hacked to death and another young woman was seriously injured in a possible axe attack.

A 21-year-old woman who was badly bleeding from cuts to her body and head managed to flag down a passing Uber around 1:30 a.m. Saturday outside the Bushwick Houses, police say.

The cabbie called 911 and medics rushed the woman to a hospital.

In an eighth-floor apartment in the Bushwick Houses, police found the woman's 4-year-old daughter and the body of a woman in her 20s.

The 4-year-old girl had not been harmed, but police say the dead woman's fingers had been severed and her head nearly decapitated.

Police confirmed that they found a bloody axe in the trash compactor of the building and that it may have been the weapon used.

No arrests have been made and police haven't given any information on who they might be looking for.
