Women Fall Onto Brooklyn Subway Tracks, Get Hit By Train In Deadly Accident

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – Two friends were struck by a subway train after they fell onto the tracks of a Brooklyn station in a deadly accident early Sunday, police said.

One of the women was killed and a second was injured after they were struck by an A train at the Broadway Junction station in East New York around 12:30 a.m., according to police.

The two women, said to be friends, appeared to be drunk at the time, witnesses told police.

CBS2 reports that one of the friends tried to grab the other as she tumbled onto the tracks but was also hit by the train as it left the station.

A 23-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while her 24-year-old friend suffered a broken arm.

The name of the deceased woman is being withheld pending the notification of her family.
